Nestled in the lush jungle just outside Ubud lies a sanctuary unlike any other — Fivelements Retreat Bali. My time here was brief, but its impact has stayed with me deeply. More than a retreat, it felt like a sacred pause… a place where body, mind, and spirit could come into alignment once more. From the moment I stepped into the grounds, a gentle hush seemed to fall over everything.

A flowing river weaved its way along the side of the retreat, its sound like a lullaby that carried through the open-air walkways and treatment spaces. The air felt different here — softer, more alive, infused with the wisdom of the land and the five elements that give this space its name.

Rooted in the ancient Balinese philosophy, the five elements — earth, water, fire, air, and ether — Fivelements Retreat Bali honours this sacred balance in every detail.

From the design of the healing spaces to the treatments themselves, the intention is clear: to restore harmony within by reconnecting with the natural forces that hold us.

Each element is represented not just symbolically, but experientially — in the grounding energy of the earth pathways beneath your feet, the flowing water that surrounds the spa, the warm flicker of candlelight, the breath of the jungle air, and the spacious stillness that envelops the entire property.

There’s a quiet reverence in every corner. You feel it in the architecture, the way the retreat blends seamlessly into the landscape. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is out of place. It’s a place that invites you to return to your centre.

I was deeply moved by the healing treatment rooms, each opening onto vibrant tropical gardens that seem to hum with life. Every massage, every treatment, felt held by nature — as if the jungle itself was participating in the healing process. My massage here was one of the most memorable I’ve ever experienced — a deeply intuitive journey, guided by skilled hands and the sacred energy of the land. The Signature treatment started with a foot soak, followed by a beautiful full body massage, which sent me off into deep rest.

Following the hands-on treatment was a bath fit for a Queen, I likened it to Cleopatra and her milk baths, however this was covered in purposefully placed flowers and petals, in the most uplifting colours of red, purple, pink yellow and green, in the shape of a heart, it was so delightful and absolutely intoxicating for the senses, it was like nothing I've ever experienced before. And then there was the food. Oh, the most delicious food. A celebration of raw, vegan cuisine — vibrant, alive, and nourishing on every level.

It was almost too beautiful to eat (almost!). What I got to enjoy was a masterpiece, crafted with creativity and care. But beyond the aesthetic, the dishes were filled with intention — to energise, to heal, to uplift. Dining here isn’t just a meal; it’s a meditative experience. One that reminds you how powerful food can be when it’s grown with love and prepared with mindfulness.

In a world that rarely stops, Fivelements Retreat Bali is a powerful reminder that healing happens in stillness. That reconnection begins when we step out of the chaos and into the quiet. And for those looking for a place to retreat or for a place to host a retreat, there are four Yoga Shalas, ideal for yoga, meditation, workshops, sound healing and so much more. I got to experience the newly built space for a 1:1 sound healing and meditation, delightful is an understatement, it’s pure medicine for the mind, body and soul.

Whether you’re on a wellness journey, a spiritual quest, or simply in need of some soul-deep rest, this place offers something rare: space. Space to feel. To remember. To just be. I left Fivelements Retreat Bali with a full heart, a nourished body, and a deep sense of peace I hadn’t felt in a long time. It’s a place I’ll return to, not just physically, but in memory, over and over again.
